FM & West Central Minnesota Equity Planning
The West Central MN CoC is seeking your support to further our regional equity planning and evaluation. CoC equity planning is multi-tiered and includes 5 levels of engagement:
Equity Leadership Team – small team responsible for planning all equity meetings, managing communication, and supporting the equity work at all levels to assure it moves forward
CoC Board – Approve and monitor the CoCs equity plan
Equity Workgroup – group responsible for intensely reviewing equity data in order to development of plan that can mitigate disparities and advance equity in our region
Advisory Group – community and regional leaders who can use their expertise and influence to help identify and affect change
Consumer Advisory and other focus groups - Provide feedback on targeted questions and identify areas of improvement
The requested funding will support compensation for persons with lived experience who are BI-POC and our equity leadership time. Our agency partners are paid to be at the planning table so want to show that we equally value the input from persons with lived experience of homelessness by assuring they are also compensated for their time. We would also like to assure we have resources to support the intensive planning and added meeting and training requirements for our leadership team.
Your support for advancing equity in our regional homeless response system is very much appreciated!
People of color experience homelessness at disproportionately high rates. Regional data shows that racial inequities exist in our homeless response system. While we know inequity exists due to historical and societal racism beyond our immediate control, we also know that there likely aspects of our homeless response system that we can change to mitigate inequities.
Please support the work of the Fargo-Moorhead Coalition to End Homelessness and West Central Minnesota Continuum of Care in Advancing Equity. We have prioritized hearing from persons with lived experience in our Advancing Equity planning bodies. Your donation will help compensate members of our Advancing Equity Workgroup who are person of color with lived experiences of homelessness. Funding is also needed to support technical assistance and educational opportunities. The more we learn from person’s lived experience and best practices the better able we will be to assure equity in the future. Please consider giving today!
