Ending homelessness through
Advocacy
Telling the story of homelessness is one of the most important things we do. We work to share with our community relevant information, statistics, and current issues. Our work is rooted in believing housing is a human right and we collaborate to design responses to injustice. We advocate to our leaders at the local, state, and federal levels concerning policy and funding that impacts our partners and our collective work. We seek to advance affordable housing and create opportunities for people to thrive so that everyone has a safe place to call home.
2020 Minnesota Legislative Session
Our Coaltion is a member of the Minnesota Coaltion for the Homeless and supports their legislative agenda. We work with them to advance their goals and participate in the annual Homeless Day on the Hill at the Capitol.
2021 North Dakota Legislative Session
For the 2019 North Dakota Legislative Session, the FM Coaltion helped create Housing North Dakota Alliance for collaborative advocacy.
Current Advocacy Work
Homes For All & Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless
The FM Coaltion has endorsed Homes for All, a statewide coalition/agenda that advances shared state policy initiatives to ensure housing stability for all Minnesotans. We are also a member of the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and partner in their legislative advocacy work.
Housing North Dakota Alliance
The FM Coalition is founding member of the Housing North Dakota Alliance, a collaborative of partners across the state in legislative advocacy. Our executive director is a registered lobbyist in the State of North Dakota to represent local and statewide policy initiatives in the ND Legislature.
National Alliance to End Homelessness
The FM Coalition supports advocacy at the federal level primarily though the National Alliance to End Homelessness. We regularly have local partners attend the annual National Conference and Capitol Hill Day. Our executive director has served as the state captain for North Dakota and participated in the Minnesota delegation at the annual Capitol Hill Day.
